Finally unleashed!

Been away from the blog for a lil while so including the obvious should probably fill you in on the new goings on in my life.

Well firstly, let's start with the biggest: Serenity.

Well it's been a long time in the making (well a year..) but finally my new album: Serenity is available for you all to download on iTunes! SO excited about this album, not least because it's technically my first 'full-length' album (A Brief History Of Us was only 9 tracks, this has 13) but the production on this album is SO far forward from where A Brief History left off.

As mentioned in previous post, of my own admission ABHOU was rushed toward the end and that (to me anyway) shows when you listen to it. The only real 'stand out' track on it is Don't Heal. And that I think is because the vocals are so clear with just the guitar in the background, no funny effects, drum machines or gimics. That was the tone I wanted to set for Serenity.

The main focus of this was YouTube. You guys always like the covers I put up and granted, one day I'd love to have a band behind me but you can't replicate that with machines...not well anyway.

Serenity is a 13 track rollercoaster of new original heart-felt material from me and your all time favourite covers from YouTube. All of which recorded, re-recorded and then meticulosly reviewed to ensure they're perfect. As mentioned the following video, the way I chose the covers was to find the most viewed on YouTube and re-record them in a proper studio. After all that's what you guys want to hear right?

I know you'll all love the album from start to finish. It breaks out with the dark original song Look What You've Done To Me and takes you through a journey of different styles, songs and melodies to lead into the finale of Blue's Best In Me in which I sing the highest note ever! And then, specially for the holiday season a cover of WHAM's Last Christmas both of which I STILL get comments on now!

The album is ONLY available to download from iTunes but the plus point is it's only £7.99 so won't break the bank.

I urge you all to download it as the more downloads it receives the higher up the charts it climbs, then people from MCA, Sony, Fueled By Ramen etc are more likely to spot this 'random guy from YouTube making a storm in the charts' and so (hopefully) leads to the process of being signed, touring worldwide and doing this for a living for the rest of my life!

If you think I can go all the way, and you want a nice easy listening album for a Sunday afternoon. Click this link and help makes my dreams come true!

The other thing you guys may have notice in my new video is my new look!

Fancied a change so have ditched the simpleton haircut and gone for a bit of a mohecan! Not to mention the eagle-eyed viewer will also have spotted yet ANOTHER tattoo! lol. Gone a but nuts with them and that now makes 5...more planned though. Really felt like ditching the old me and starting afresh so everything has changed, looks and mindset.

I'm here to stay, with music and always pushing to achieve my dream but I need your help to do that.

Finally, I cannot thank you guys enough for what has been an emotional and crazy rollercoaster of the last 5 years (since I started posting on YouTube) and I can't wait for the next 5. Keep watching, keep tweeting and keep downloading because the more people who hear my music, the closer I get to you all, in every way..

Thank you so much for your continued support and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Serenity...

I always find it amazing just how fast things can change in life. I'll be honest I've never quite figured out where I am on this big blue ball in space. Always been a little lost or a little behind the pack so-to-speak.

I was just sitting here thinking about thing as the smell of roast dinner fills my grandparents lounge how everything in your life in a split second can change...sometimes for the worse.

In truth, not having a great time of it at the moment. Funnily enough the only thing that's really right about now is my music. Work and life in general are not too great. Sometimes I sit here thinking that I should just press the reset button and start it all again. Completely change every aspect of my life and live from that moment on but would all the hassle and heartache be worth it? Suppose that's the question. either way I suppose we just plod along through life and play the cards we're dealt. That's why I linked this blog back to serenity:

"Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage the change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference..."

That's the ironic thing, I KNOW what I can change...it's just doing it that's the hardest part. Especially when it comes to finances. Whether it be work, play or love everything eventually brings you back to money. You end up tied in a corner that you're so desperate to get out of but can't...it's a horrible feeling.

My plan was to use this weekend to 'sort my life out' but all I've managed to do is cut the grass, tidy the flat and progress my music! Not what I'd call sorting my life out...mind you, if I had the choice I'd give it all up and live on my music. I'd love that! That'd be my dream to just travel around the country/world playing music every night. If heaven is a place on earth, that place for me is on stage.

Suppose these things have a way of working themselves out in the end. I'll be honest I don't really know why I'm blogging about this, guess it's just therapeutic to put pen to paper, finger to keyboard and let my feelings flow out onto the screen.

Do me a favour though. In fact no, do yourselves a favour and remember that if you find someone who makes you forget it all. Forget all your worries and puts a smile on your face then hang on to them. Because that person is worth their weight in gold. That smile they put on your face is worth more than any words or any amount of money...believe me I know.

I'll close with another saying, one I've seemed to pen quite a few times this year:

"You only regret the things you didn't do..."

Maybe we all should live by this a little more and do something about our lives rather than living in limbo. Happiness is a word lost in society now. We've lost sight of it's true meaning with possessions and things but when it all comes down to it and you sit there at night surround by all the things you ever wanted you'll know it wasn't worth it.

Live true, be happy.

Till the next time Moysers, good night

Blogging, because sometimes you don't want to see my face!

Hello there!

Umm...is this thing on?

Oh yes er hi! I have found my way into the world of blogging!

Thanks to a close friend of mine pointing me in the right direction I have decided that instead of doing video blogs I'll sit at the laptop a couple of times a month and rant about existence, music and any random thing that pops into my head. I used to do it on MySpace back in the day but as work and life becomes more and more of burden/reponsibility it fizzled out...but here we go take 2 of the blogging! Bigger, better, faster and more interesting (um...not sure on that) than ever before...

So here goes...blog number 1: Songwriting....bring on the rant!

All the best :)

"If I could write you a song to make you fall in love..."

It's amazing. One day you can be sitting there without a thought in the world, with no ideas, no subjects, no lyrics and not an original chord to your fingers but then another day bam! You're knocking out original song after song after song!

I'm blogging this for you as I am currently back in writing mode. This means that I'll pretty much spend the entirety of my day thinking of subjects, lyrics and alternate chords patterns. Enough to drive anyone mad ay? Na..not quite. Don't get me wrong you'll find yourself climbing the walls when a song just can't fit together and nothing will flow from pen to paper but when you get one of those days it's magic!

Just finished putting together three new songs for the new album (due out Christmas this year in case you were curious). The plan is it'll include quite a few new original songs but most importantly there'll be a loads of my covers on it too. And this leads me back to my main point...writing a song.

Amazing how easily a familiar chord structure, melody or lyrical verse can sneak into your writing and you'll be surprised just how hard it is to even get a decent enough subject to warrant writing about! Funny isn't it, best I get better at this if my life pans out the way I hope it will! For some people it comes so naturally, Chris Martin, Adam Levine and Chris Daughtry spring immediately to mind, but for me I'm just starting out.

There's some new songs that I think (hope) you'll all like going on the new album. A couple I've already previewed on YouTube 'Look What You've Done To Me' and 'What You Mean To Me' which have had great responses (thank you guys).

'Look What You've Done To Me' is a very kind of F-you song, mainly written when there seemed to be a lot of anger in me...hmm...written quite a few angry songs lately lol. It's basically about a relationship being one-sided and giving all you've got and getting nothing back. On the other hand 'What You Mean To Me' is actually one of my first 'love songs', seemed to just squeeze that one out before it all went angry again. The next few 'I Can Hurt You Too' for example has been on YouTube for a little while now. Added that about a year ago I think and once again that's basically about a relationship that just isn't working. The next few which I'm yet to preview (stay tuned) have some similar but also varied themes. 'Your Excuse' is another F-you song, about taking the blame for everything and your name being mud even though you're the only thing holding it together. 'What We Deserve' is kind of a ballad/driving song. Only just finished writing it today (24th Oct). It's basically about the thrill of driving fast but then the tragedy when it all goes wrong. And finally...(so far)...there is a currently unnamed song written about a friend of mine who just can't seem to find the right guy...so I guess another love song! lol.

It's funny though as the majority of these songs were written together, juggling multiple songs at once and adding bits and swapping them between the drafts...never thought I could multitask that well! Can't wait for you guys to hear them! I'm planning on making this album as a big evolution from 'A Brief History Of Us'. I feel 'ABHOU' was rushed towards the end and it's far from the polished article I dreamt of. Although I did add a lot of backing and instruments to it, I've decided with the new album (due out for Christmas 2011...incase I hadn't mentioned that ha-ha) is to strip it back to basics and bring my music back to it's roots. I dream of having a band behind me and having that fuller sound but it's not something I think you can replicate with a beat box and a keyboard so there won't be any fancy backing. Just my voice and my guitar...I think for now it works best like that. The main reports I had from 'A Brief History Of Us' was that everyone's favourite song was 'Don't Heal' and that was exactly the sound I wanted on album no.3 (yes, there was an earlier release). So I guess come December this year I'll know what you guys think.

Right, off to grab the Tak' and carry on trying to write the next chart smasher!

Till the next time....all the best :)
